I-D BASE Jump Instruction

Sean Chuma: Inter-Demented BASE Instruction
The I-D Base Jump School is and elite training school that is highly reputable across the globe.  The classes are kept small in order to keep a good instructor to student ratio. We take pride in our thorough training program and we produce top notch jumpers.  Sean Chuma has over 4,000 Base jumps and has been teaching the art of BASE for over 7 years.  Many other courses try to mimic our training program but they cannot match the amount of skill and experience behind it.  The course location is at the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, ID.  The Perrine is a prime spot to learn to BASE jump as it is 486 feet above the Snake River and has a large landing area.  It is a forgiving object, but BASE jumping can be dangerous, can cause death or injury, and must be handled in a responsible manner.  Students are required to have 200 skydives or extensive para glider experience.  The course focuses on student's experience and decision making skills.  Each Student will move at his/her own pace.  It is required that you become familiar with packing before the course as this will allow us to attain more jumps.  It is required that you complete at least 5 pack jobs before your course date. Packing videos are available for your use.

Students of the First Jump Course are taught on a 4 day program. We actually go all day rather than 5 short days like some programs do.  During the first 3 days of the course the students learn the basics of BASE jumping, which includes many topics in the classroom and in the field.  The fourth day is advanced training where we expand on basics and move the student toward training for a specific type of BASE jumping that they may choose, such as aerials, unpacked jumps, other objects, terminal, wingsuit, etc.  Students will be given guidance on how to properly and safely move toward their goals in BASE.

Students will focus on learning, at their own rate, how to progress in the sport and do it in a safe, skilled, and smart way.  Remember that success and growth in BASE, and in life for that matter, is all about wisdom and your ability to make the right decision in each moment.  Maybe you start to see that BASE jumping is a spiritual practice.

 Students can expect to learn:

-knowledge of BASE specific gear and proper setup, checks, and use
-object assessment
-weather assessment
-when to stand down and proper mental attitude during jumps
-how to calm themselves in the intense situations that arise
-malfunctions and procedures as well as object avoidance

-pilot chute selection and slider up vs. slider down setup and use
-proper exit strategies and awareness of obstructions
-possible problems to look out for

-Ethics of BASE jumping and respect for other jumpers, people, and property

-Is your path constructive or destructive?

-Why are you Jumping?  Is it for the Passion of the sport?
